The Envelope
A wax-sealed letter that opens in front of your guest.
The Envelope is the only invitation we make that does not show itself straight away. When a guest opens the link, the first thing they see is a closed envelope of warm paper, sealed with wax stamped with your initials. The envelope breathes very slightly, a thin shine travels across the paper, and behind it all sits a blurred photograph of the two of you. Nothing happens until the guest touches the screen, and that pause is exactly what makes the invitation memorable.
Style: vintage
The Envelope in detail
On a touch (or a hover) the seal cracks and disappears, the top flap turns upwards and stays raised, and a card carrying your names and the date slides out of the envelope. The whole sequence runs for two and a half seconds and then hands over to the invitation. The wax seal is not an image: it is drawn from your names, so Emma and James get a seal with an E and a J above a small heart. Anyone with animations turned off skips the opening and sees the invitation immediately.
Right for you if…
- You want your guest to pause before they read a single word
- You are sending the invitation by text and want it to stand out among the messages
- You love classic paper and wax, but in a form that lives on a phone
- You have a photograph of the two of you to sit behind the envelope
What this design includes
Whatever the design, every digital wedding invitation carries the same content here, and only the look changes:
- Online RSVP: who is coming, how many with them and their names, allergies, a song request and a note to the couple
- Schedule of the day: from welcome drinks to dinner, each with its own time and venue
- Calendar and maps: buttons for Google and Apple Calendar, and directions to every venue
- Your photographs: you can add up to two, though this design works without them
- A countdown to the big day, and an occasion line under your names
- One link to send by text or WhatsApp, and any change is visible to every guest straight away
How to build this invitation
You put the invitation together for free and watch it come together as you type, and you pay only when you want to publish it and send it to your guests. The whole thing takes about ten minutes:
- Enter your names, the date, and the time and venue of each event
- Pick The Envelope (or any of the 35 designs, since you can change your mind)
- Add your photographs and a note to your guests
- Publish and share the link, and the replies land on your dashboard
Every plan includes all 35 designs, so which one you choose does not affect the price. The differences are set out on the pricing page. Not sure which design to go for? This helps: how to choose a digital invitation.
